About Me

My photo
Growing up I filled my schedule with dance classes, in every variation of dance. Searching for a costume was one of my favorite tasks each year. I would pay close attention to the story it told and how it would move on the stage. Would it complete the story that I was trying to tell with the dance? That same excitement followed me to love the fashion industry. I like to think of the whole story that is being told and how the movement of the clothes is the language. Just like dance is an art form, I look at fashion as an art and not simply a business.

Art vs. Fashion: Lake Como

Fashion is often referred to as art; and during this trip to Milan we will have to look at exhibits and museums to see how the art in these places connects to fashion of the upcoming seasons. The other day we travelled to Lake Como and even with the rainy day, the sights were spectacular. Besides the view of the lake, the most beautiful sight was the Piazza del Duomo in the center of the town. “The construction of this cathedral started in the 1300′s and was finally completed in the 1700′s.” 1 The outside stone looks like horizontal stripes and this could have been inspiration for a sweater from Antonio Berardi’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection. Berardi is inspired by anything he see’s on the street along with “music, post-modern art and independent film. He believes in inspiration and that “’anything is possible.’” 2
