Last night we had the opportunity through Maria Chiara Arona to go to a Fashion Illustrated Magazine cocktail party. It was held at the largest archive for fashion magazines in Italy. They had every addition of Vogue, including Italian, American, and Asian. They had magazines that I had never heard of and books on every floor. As I walked through the rooms I wished I could stay forever and read them all. In the basement there was a screening room where they allow students to come and watch old fashion movies and runway shows. It was a chic event and I’m so glad we got the opportunity to go and see all of the history that the archive had.

Today continued to be all about the fashion by travelling to Lake Como. We stopped at a silk museum called, Museo didattico della Seta Como first to learn about the traditional process of creating silk. We also learned about how to dye and print the fabric once it is made. The museum showed us the hard work that went into making each bolt of fabric and made me appreciate the machinery that we have today, although quality may not always be the same.
From there we went into the town where we all did some shopping. While we were walking around I noticed that many Italians love their bright colors. People were dressed professionally, stylish, and chic but not in the New York black since of the words. They had bright reds, oranges, and greens. They were not afraid to express themselves through their clothes and they were able to show that through their confidence. Even with random storms passing through, women were still walking with confidence in heels on the slippery cobble stone streets with dogs in tow. From today, my goals for this trip are to buy a pair of red pants and to walk on the cobblestones confidently in heels.
