About Me

My photo
Growing up I filled my schedule with dance classes, in every variation of dance. Searching for a costume was one of my favorite tasks each year. I would pay close attention to the story it told and how it would move on the stage. Would it complete the story that I was trying to tell with the dance? That same excitement followed me to love the fashion industry. I like to think of the whole story that is being told and how the movement of the clothes is the language. Just like dance is an art form, I look at fashion as an art and not simply a business.

Vita della Moda: Clue #1

The 22 of us have been broken up into teams and will be given clues that we have to decode, find the place, and take a picture at the location. Our first cultural clue in the scavenger hunt was given today! Ours stated: "Questo interessante monumento a Milano é stato influenzato dal francese. La costruzione é iniziata in un tempo di guerra, ma é stato completato e dedicato alla pace." We knew instantly where it was on our bus tour; it was the Arco della Pace in Sempione Park.
"The architect Luigi Cagnola planned the Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace) in order to celebrate the victories of Napoleon in Italy. It was started in 1807 and completed only under the Austrian regime in 1838."1

The whole group had to spend time at the Sforza Castello then meet later to see fashions at the Il Teatro alla Moda exhibit at the Musei Mazzucchelli. We only had a couple hours in between and the map made it look like we wouldn't have enough time, so we sat to eat instead.

What our group didn't realize however, was that our spot was right behind the Sforza Castello. After laughing at ourselves, we were able to work well together, travel back to the area and snap a picture right before a rain storm hit. With our run back to the metro, the rain turned into hail. As the hail was coming down in sheets, it hurt and was freezing so we had to take cover back at the Sforza Castello. None of us had ever seen hail like this and it was an experience we were able to share together and I know we won't be able to forget it! Together we figured out the bonus clue and will be traveling there tomorrow to snap the picture. Hopefully it won't be right in our faces like the Arco della Pace was today!
